Otteroo: Baby Neck Float

Hello my loves!!! Thank you for checking out my website and YouTube channel. Hope you enjoyed it and I hope it was of some interest to you. I will sum up how I feel about the Otteroo baby neck float in three words: I LOVE IT!

Although, it may seem like a new innovation making its grand entrance into the consumer market it is actually an old trend that has been used in Asian Countries for several years. I stumbled across the Otteroo from another mommy reviewing it on the internet. She raved about it and I couldn’t contain myself and purchased it. But, it wasn’t an impulse purchase. At first, I was skeptical to purchase because I couldn’t imagine my baby’s neck wrapped around a float. Will she be strangled? Will she actually float? And like many - I have first time mommy paranoia. But, I kept on going back to the product until I eventually purchased it online for my beautiful 4 month old daughter Zoë as a Christmas gift.

I also got some type of “peace of mind” when I read the website about the product description. Otteroo claims that it is pediatrician recommended and can be used from 8 weeks old babies until your child weighs 35 pounds or approximately 3 years of age. Their website also talks about the product helping children develop their motor skills such as their arms and legs mobilization while exploring the water. Some parents claim that if you start introducing children to water early on in life it will help them not develop a fear to it. This is something that happened to me. As a child, I was terrified of any body of water, especially the Ocean. But, part of the fear is due to my father tossing me into the water involuntarily. It must be a Hispanic thing to do! Hahaha.

Zoë absolutely loves bath time. We are having frigid weather in the East Coast and instead of waiting for summer to arrive and be able to use the Otteroo in a pool why not create a nice baby pool in my own bathtub. So that’s exactly what I did! First, I filled the bathtub with lukewarm water and checked the temperature with my elbow just to make sure it is ok for my baby. I added some cute rubber duckies to the bathtub just to give my daughter some toys to grab and play while she explores the water. Then I put Zoe in the water and “Voila” she was all smiles. Not only was it super cute to see my big cheeked baby float in water, but it was so awesome to see her walk and move around-defying gravity (so cool). I only kept the baby neck float on for about 10 minutes.

I do have a disclaimer to make. I highly implore parents to PLEASE keep your eyes on your baby at all times with this product. Never leave your baby unattended in bathtubs, pools, beach, etc. The Otteroo is simply a toy and not a life saving device. So parents please glue your eyes to your child when using this or any other floating devices.


In sum, I love love love the Otteroo baby neck float. My baby was safe under my supervision and I can NOT wait to use it in my pool whenever summer decides to show up in the East Coast.
